In this project I had to recreate a film scene that was given to me. I had picked the first script that was given which I'm assuming was from a horror film. At the start, I was not to sure how I would recreate the scene and who I would need to cast as my actors. Though I soon found a group to work with, me, Abbie and Talia. We had decided on the location dinton pastures and a day to meet up and flim. Before we had met up we had to finish off our class work and get our pitch in. Overall the class work was done before we had began filming apart from the mortal kombat task which I had to finish off adding sound effects after we had filmed. However, it did not cause much of a delay which allowed me to continue editing the footage.
The ADR task which had been given to us took me a bit longer to complete than the others since I had not gotten the footage straight away and had to wait until I had the footage before I could edit the whole video together. The Mortal Kombat task I had done was fairly easy but I later found out I had to add sound effects to the video as well which made me have to edit again which is why I had to finish it off after filming. Other than those two, all the other class tasks were fine and were finished on the day it was given to me.
During the day of filming, there was much more public than we had expected and spent 10 minutes walking around, trying to find a place where we could film where we would not have as many people in the background. Once we had chosen our background, we began to film. We had decided the shots and camera angles as we went which did not work out that great as we ended up with not that great variety of camera angles. We had also decided on using our phones to record which made the quality of our footage a bit blurry since we thought we would not be responsible enough to carry college equipment all the way to dinton pastures. This lead to us having audio with wind which lowered the quality of our audio.
Abbie had been acting as the mysterious character from the script, though we had adapted her to be a 'chav' to add comedy to the scene. Overall, she had acted as well as she could and had pulled her weight. Since we had spit the pre production between all of us, she had done her parts and shared it to the rest of us. She had also given ideas on which angles to take and where we should position ourselves which shows that she had contributed to helping out and had not just left it to the other two members of the group. Talia had acted as the teenager's friend. She was also the main camera person who filmed most of the scenes including myself and Abbie. When it came to suggesting which angle to film and how to film, Talia had came up with most of the ideas which ended up being used in the final shots. When it came to acting, she had acted to the best she could despite feeling a little awkward which had not ruined the film scene and was fine.
It had not taken us too long to finish filming, however when it came to editing, I had realised that our audio had the wind blocking out some of our voices. I had increased the volume on the audio so you could hear the voices but it still was not as great as it could have been. I then added background music to add to the theme of horror which had it's volume lowered so you could still hear the voice lines over the music. I had then added sound effects to heighten the tension. Though our main genre was comedy with a subgenre of horror, the acting had showed the comedy side of the video while the background music and sound effects added the horror side of the video which was in the original script.
When I had finished adding all the videos together and added the sound effects, I had realised that the video was rather short, therefore in order to make the video a bit longer, I added bloopers at the end. This added to the comedic side of the video and made the video longer which solved the problem.
